Hide (hereinafter: "the App") is provided by a small business (BV/VOF), established in the Netherlands (hereinafter: "we", "us" or "the Controller"). We are responsible for the processing of your personal data as described in this Privacy Policy.

2. What Data Do We Collect?

We process the following categories of personal data:

2.1 Account Data

  • Username or display name;
  • Email address (if provided upon registration).

2.2 Location Data

  • GPS location of Runners, shared at a configurable time interval during an active game session;
  • After a game session: a summary of in-game locations stored as match history.

2.3 Technical Data

  • Device type and operating system;
  • IP address;
  • Technical log data (session duration);
  • Crash and diagnostic data (stack traces, error messages, app version, device model, OS version, language, memory and storage state at the time of a crash);
  • A pseudonymous device identifier (Firebase Installation ID) used to group crash reports, not linked to your account.

2.4 Friends Data

  • The users you have added as a friend within the App.

3. Why Do We Use Your Data?

We process your personal data for the following purposes:

3.1 Providing Game Services (legal basis: performance of contract)

  • Enabling participation in game sessions;
  • Real-time sharing of location data between Hunters and Runners during a session;
  • Displaying match history to your added friends.

3.2 Technical Management (legal basis: legitimate interest)

  • Securing and improving the App;
  • Resolving technical issues via log data.

3.3 Legal Obligations (legal basis: legal obligation)

  • Compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

4. Retention Periods

We do not retain your personal data longer than necessary:

  • Location data during an active game session: not stored separately after the session ends, unless saved as match history.
  • Match history (game location summary): maximum 7 days after the session ends, then automatically deleted.
  • Account data: for as long as your account is active, or until you request deletion.
  • Technical log data: maximum 30 days.
  • Crash and diagnostic data: maximum 90 days, then automatically deleted by the crash reporting service.

5. Who Do We Share Your Data With?

5.1 Other Players (Hunters)

During an active game session, your location (as a Runner) is shared with the Hunters in the same session. This is a core feature of the App and requires your explicit consent upon participation.

5.2 Friends

Your match history is visible to users you have added as a friend in the App. You manage your own friends list. By adding someone as a friend, you consent to that person being able to view your match history.

5.3 Processors

We use the following technical service providers that process personal data on our behalf under a data processing agreement (DPA) in accordance with the GDPR:

  • Google LLC (Firebase) — authentication (Firebase Authentication), real-time database hosting (Cloud Firestore and Realtime Database), push notifications (Firebase Cloud Messaging), abuse protection (Firebase App Check), and crash diagnostics (Firebase Crashlytics).

We never sell your data to third parties.

5.4 Legal Obligations

We may disclose data to competent authorities where we are legally obliged to do so.

6. Transfers Outside the EEA

We aim to process your personal data within the European Economic Area (EEA) where possible. However, some of our processors — in particular Google LLC (Firebase) — may process data on servers outside the EEA, including in the United States. For these transfers, we rely on appropriate safeguards in accordance with the GDPR, in particular the Standard Contractual Clauses included in the Google Cloud Data Processing Addendum.

7. Security

We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorised access, loss, or misuse. Among other things, we use encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) for data transmission.

8. Your Rights

Under the GDPR, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Right of access: you can request which data we process about you;
  • Right to rectification: you can have incorrect data corrected;
  • Right to erasure ("right to be forgotten"): you can request deletion of your data;
  • Right to restriction of processing;
  • Right to data portability;
  • Right to object to processing based on legitimate interest;
  • Right to withdraw consent, where processing is based on consent.

You can exercise your rights by contacting us using the details in Article 11. We will respond within four weeks. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens) at www.autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl.

9. Cookies and Tracking

The App uses functional cookies or similar technologies that are strictly necessary for the App to function (such as maintaining a session). We use Firebase Crashlytics to diagnose crashes and errors; this is not used for advertising, cross-app tracking, or user profiling. You can disable crash reporting at any time from within the App (Settings → Privacy). We do not use tracking or advertising cookies.

10. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. For material changes, we will notify you via the App or by email. The effective date at the top of this document indicates when the most recent version came into force.

1. Wie zijn wij?

Hide (hierna: "de App") wordt aangeboden door een kleine onderneming (BV/VOF), gevestigd in Nederland (hierna: "wij", "ons" of "de Verwerkingsverantwoordelijke"). Wij zijn verantwoordelijk voor de verwerking van uw persoonsgegevens zoals beschreven in dit Privacybeleid.

2. Welke gegevens verzamelen wij?

Wij verwerken de volgende categorieën persoonsgegevens:

2.1 Accountgegevens

  • Gebruikersnaam of weergavenaam;
  • E-mailadres (indien opgegeven bij registratie).

2.2 Locatiegegevens

  • GPS-locatie van Renners, gedeeld op een instelbaar tijdsinterval tijdens een actieve spelsessie;
  • Na afloop van een spelsessie: een samenvatting van spellocaties opgeslagen als match history.

2.3 Technische gegevens

  • Apparaattype en besturingssysteem;
  • IP-adres;
  • Technische loggegevens (sessieduur);
  • Crash- en diagnosegegevens (stack traces, foutmeldingen, app-versie, apparaatmodel, OS-versie, taal, geheugen- en opslagtoestand op het moment van een crash);
  • Een pseudonieme apparaat-identifier (Firebase Installation ID) die wordt gebruikt om crashrapporten te groeperen, niet gekoppeld aan uw account.

2.4 Vriendschapsgegevens

  • De gebruikers die u als vriend heeft toegevoegd binnen de App.

3. Waarvoor gebruiken wij uw gegevens?

Wij verwerken uw persoonsgegevens voor de volgende doeleinden:

3.1 Uitvoering van de spelservices (grondslag: uitvoering overeenkomst)

  • Het mogelijk maken van deelname aan spelsessies;
  • Het in real-time delen van locatiegegevens tussen Jagers en Renners tijdens een spelsessie;
  • Het weergeven van match history aan uw toegevoegde vrienden.

3.2 Technisch beheer (grondslag: gerechtvaardigd belang)

  • Het beveiligen en verbeteren van de App;
  • Het oplossen van technische problemen via loggegevens.

3.3 Wettelijke verplichtingen (grondslag: wettelijke verplichting)

  • Het voldoen aan toepasselijke wet- en regelgeving.

4. Bewaartermijnen

Wij bewaren uw persoonsgegevens niet langer dan noodzakelijk:

  • Locatiegegevens tijdens een actieve spelsessie: worden niet afzonderlijk opgeslagen na het beëindigen van de sessie, tenzij als match history.
  • Match history (spellocatiesamenvatting): maximaal 7 dagen na afloop van de spelsessie, daarna automatische verwijdering.
  • Accountgegevens: zolang uw account actief is, of totdat u verzoekt om verwijdering.
  • Technische loggegevens: maximaal 30 dagen.
  • Crash- en diagnosegegevens: maximaal 90 dagen, daarna automatisch verwijderd door de crashrapportage-dienst.

5. Met wie delen wij uw gegevens?

5.1 Andere spelers (Jagers)

Tijdens een actieve spelsessie wordt uw locatie (als Renner) gedeeld met de Jagers in dezelfde sessie. Dit is een kernfunctie van de App en vereist uw expliciete toestemming bij deelname.

5.2 Vrienden

Uw match history is zichtbaar voor gebruikers die u als vriend heeft toegevoegd in de App. U beheert zelf uw vriendenlijst. Door iemand toe te voegen als vriend geeft u toestemming dat deze persoon uw match history kan inzien.

5.3 Verwerkers

Wij maken gebruik van de volgende technische dienstverleners die persoonsgegevens verwerken in onze opdracht, onder een verwerkersovereenkomst conform de AVG:

  • Google LLC (Firebase) — authenticatie (Firebase Authentication), real-time database-hosting (Cloud Firestore en Realtime Database), push-notificaties (Firebase Cloud Messaging), misbruikbeveiliging (Firebase App Check) en crashdiagnose (Firebase Crashlytics).

Wij verkopen uw gegevens nooit aan derden.

5.4 Wettelijke verplichtingen

Wij kunnen gegevens verstrekken aan bevoegde autoriteiten indien wij daartoe wettelijk verplicht zijn.

6. Doorgifte buiten de EER

Wij streven ernaar uw persoonsgegevens waar mogelijk te verwerken binnen de Europese Economische Ruimte (EER). Sommige van onze verwerkers — in het bijzonder Google LLC (Firebase) — kunnen gegevens echter verwerken op servers buiten de EER, inclusief in de Verenigde Staten. Voor deze doorgiftes vertrouwen wij op passende waarborgen conform de AVG, in het bijzonder de standaard contractuele clausules opgenomen in het Google Cloud Data Processing Addendum.

7. Beveiliging

Wij nemen passende technische en organisatorische maatregelen om uw persoonsgegevens te beschermen tegen ongeautoriseerde toegang, verlies of misbruik. Onder meer maken wij gebruik van versleutelde verbindingen (HTTPS/TLS) voor datatransport.

8. Uw Rechten

Op grond van de AVG heeft u de volgende rechten met betrekking tot uw persoonsgegevens:

  • Recht op inzage: u kunt opvragen welke gegevens wij van u verwerken;
  • Recht op correctie: u kunt onjuiste gegevens laten corrigeren;
  • Recht op verwijdering ("recht op vergetelheid"): u kunt verzoeken uw gegevens te wissen;
  • Recht op beperking van verwerking;
  • Recht op gegevensoverdraagbaarheid (dataportabiliteit);
  • Recht om bezwaar te maken tegen verwerking op grond van gerechtvaardigd belang;
  • Recht om toestemming in te trekken, voor zover verwerking op toestemming is gebaseerd.

U kunt uw rechten uitoefenen door contact op te nemen via de gegevens in artikel 11. Wij reageren binnen vier weken op uw verzoek. U heeft ook het recht een klacht in te dienen bij de Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens (www.autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl).

9. Cookies en Tracking

De App maakt gebruik van functionele cookies of vergelijkbare technologieën die strikt noodzakelijk zijn voor het functioneren van de App (zoals het bijhouden van een sessie). Wij gebruiken Firebase Crashlytics om crashes en fouten te diagnosticeren; dit wordt niet gebruikt voor advertenties, cross-app tracking of gebruikersprofielen. U kunt crashrapportage op elk moment uitschakelen binnen de App (Instellingen → Privacy). Wij maken geen gebruik van tracking- of advertentiecookies.

10. Wijzigingen in dit Privacybeleid

Wij kunnen dit Privacybeleid periodiek aanpassen. Bij wezenlijke wijzigingen informeren wij u via de App of per e-mail. De ingangsdatum bovenaan dit document geeft aan wanneer de meest recente versie van kracht is.
